Goblin Valley State Park

We drove up to Goblin Valley State Park this morning to hike before it got too hot. On the drive near the park we saw a couple of pronghorn antelopes.

There are several hiking trails in the park that seem to be on the outskirts of Goblin Valley. We opted, however, to wander in the Valley for several hours.

View into Goblin Valley from the Observation Point on the north end of the valley. The rock formations continue for quite a ways beyond this photo.

Looking south with the Henry Mountains in the far distance.

The formations range from several feet tall to towering rocky cliffs.

There are many places where you can have fun taking photos between and through the formations
Looking northwest with Temple Mtn in the distance.
We wandered along the eastern end of the valley, winding our way down near the southern border of the park. There are many side canyons filled with "goblins" and other rock formations.
On our way back, we took a more direct and quick route back, via the main wash. We did not see any other people until we were back near Observation Point.

We did see some wildflowers, several collared lizards and some interesting rocks (pictures at the end of this post)
As we weren't following a trail, I don't have a good description of our wanderings. Enjoy these photos as a small sample of what we saw along the way today.
