Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River Trail

We drove out to the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River Trailhead to hike up the trail and back today. We did 12 miles roundtrip with 1,200' of overall gain. We didn't see any other hikers until we were about 2 miles back to the trailhead. A very peaceful and relaxing hike. The trail starts by crossing the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River over this foot bridge.

View slightly up the trail, Garfield Mountain is completely covered in clouds.

We saw lots of trillium along with some other wildflowers along the trail.

cliffs rising in the clouds
The trail goes through a lovely forest with some large boulders along the way.

Lots of layers of green in the forest.

Most of the streams were either small enough to almost step over or had bridges, except for this one.

There was quite a bit of mud along the trail today.

Most of this trail is so soft to walk on.

There were several downed trees that were not difficult to go over or under, except this spot about 1/-1/2 mile before the bridge crossing the river near the Dingle Creek Trailhead.

View of the Middle Fork from a short distance on the other side of the bridge. This was a nice spot to take a lunch break and then turn back.

The clouds were lifting some as we hiked back down the trail.

There were lots of moss covered trees.

We could see the lower part of Garfield Mountain as we neared the trailhead.

A little more of a view downstream as we crossed the bridge compared to when we began this morning.

Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River Winter Hike

Returned to the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River for a nice walk free from avalanche danger. We hiked up to the Dingleford Trail for a 12 mile rt hike with 200 ft of elevation gain.  There was less snow than we saw here a month ago.

 Mount Garfield

This is a beautiful forest walk
some of the shelf fungi was larger than my head
Due to the recent heavy rain, there was lots of water on the trail

There was also some snow, but no traction was needed.
The small falls had lots more water in it
and the stream was much fuller.
Lots of moss covered trees and rocks

there were also many smaller streams
These trees were growing atop huge boulders
View from where Dingleford Creek joins the Middle Fork
There was so much water. Hard to believe that last month we were able to walk along the side of the river on these rocks to take pictures.

Nice views through the forest as we returned down the trail.
