Backyard Boulders Trail

We arrived at Castle Rock State Park in Southern Idaho after a long day of driving. We opted to do the short Backyard Boulders Trail, a 2 mile loop hike. This area is famous for the rock climbing.

 These rock formations are huge.

 Boulder with interesting honey-comb weathering.

The trail continues past towering boulders to
the Castle Rocks Geological Area Overlook, with towering spires and monoliths of the Almo Pluton.

On the back side of these boulders are pre-historic pictographs

There were lots of lizards here also.
