We drove to Van Sickle Bi-State Park to hike the Van Sickle Connector Trail on the Nevada side up to a Vista on the Tahoma Rim Trail, 7.7 miles round trip with an overall gain of 1,500 ft. This trail is in a lovely pine forest with lots of boulders and views of Lake Tahoe along the way.
The trail gains almost 600 ft in the first mile, the switchbacks provide several view of Lake Tahoe below.
As the trail continues uphill, we crossed several small streams, this one came from a spring under the rocks.
We discovered here, the moss does only grow on the north side of the trees (unlike in Washington State where the moss grows on all sides of the trees).
The sun came out as we were hiking down, the blue skies turning the color of Lake Tahoe from gray to blue.
