We hiked up to the top of Lassen Peak at Lassen National Park, a 5 mile round trip hike with 2,000 ft gain. We found the trail to be evenly graded.
North side of Lassen Peak
Southeast side of Lassen Peak
Lassen Peak from the trailhead on the south side.
The trailhead is at 8,500 ft
We saw smoky skies from wildfires in the area. View to the southeast from the trail. Lake Almanor in the distance.
View to the southwest, Lake Helen below and Brokeoff Mountain in the distance.
There are some interesting lava formations along the trail.
We were excited to see the sign saying there was only 0.5 mile to go.
There is a large flat area near the summit, but we wanted to continue to the peak. There was one snow field to cross on the way. There was a well worn path in the snow field.
Looking across the snow filed and crater rim to Mt Shasta to the northwest
close up of Mt Shasta
A little bit of an easy scramble up to the peak
On top of Lassen Peak 10,457 ft!

on top of Lassen Peak, a fabulous day!
We did the entire hike in 3-1/2 hours without rushing.
