We hiked to Kings Creek Falls and then to the Sifford Lakes. This was an 8 mile hike with 960 ft of overall elevation gain. This is a loop hike, with a side spur to the Sifford Lakes.
The trail follows Kings Creek (unfortunately, the cascade trail was closed for repairs, so we had to take the horse trail).
Morning sky was pink due to area wildfires
small cascade along Kings Creek on the way to the falls
view of Kings Creek Falls from the fenced overlook (about 1 mile from the trailhead)
We then went over Kings Creek on a log bridge. Didn't realize when we passed Bench Lake as there was no water in it and the area looked like a depressed meadow. We then hiked over to Sifford Lakes.
Wide angle shot of the first Sifford Lake encountered on the trail
nearby there was an overlook where we could steam arising down in the Devils Kitchen area to the south
lots of interesting rock formations
We then followed boot tracks to the other Sifford Lakes. I think we counted 9 or 10 lakes here.
some of the Sifford Lakes also had views of Lassen Peak
We saw only a couple of other hikers in this area, it was very peaceful.
We then returned to the main loop trail.
