Kloshe Nanitch and North Point

We drove up to the end of West Snider Road off of Hwy 101 to hike up to Kloshe Nanitch and North Point today. Our hike was 7.6 miles with 2,530 ft of gain. We had some clouds, rain and hail, but didn't see any other hikers on the trail.
The first 0. 2 miles is flat, before going up Snider Ridge.

This first part of the trail is beside the Sol Doc River.

There were lots of forget-me-nots in bloom along this section.

The trail soon enters the Olympic National Forest and goes steadily uphill through a lovely forest.

A stream crossing with lots of luscious moss.

This large shelf fungus has a plant growing on top of it, instead of a nurse log, it is a nurse fungus.

Nice needle covered trail, making a sort trail.

Bright green moss on top of this stump.

Spider web covered with rain drops.

We would pass several mossy covered boulders and rocky hillsides.

Another stream crossing

One of several calypso orchids

This stream came out from under the ground and did not cross the trail.

Beautiful cloudy forest hike.

There were quite a few yellow violets along the trail.
Some of the hail on the trail.
Looking up at the foundation of the former lookout at Kloshe Nanitch.

Minimal views from Kloshe Nanitch:

We then walked the half mile along the road to the cell tower at North Point, now views here either today.

We then took the connector trail down to the main trail. Along part of this trail, the tree canopy was so dense there was very little undergrowth.

View between the trees into the clouds.
Lots of moss and lichen on some of the trees.

Enjoying the the green today as we continued down the trail:

Back near the trailhead, enjoying views of the Sol Doc River.
