Dosewallips River Road

We drove to the end of the Dosewallips Road at Brinnon on the west side of Hood Canal to hike to hike the Dosewallips River Road to the falls and back. The trail starts in Olympic National Forest and enters Olympic National Park in about 5 miles. Overall 11 miles round trip with 1,200 ft of gain. We saw a marten and only 6 other hikers. The trail is the now closed road to Dosewallips Ranger Station.  View of the Dosewallips River along the road wash out part of the trail about 1.25 miles from the trailhead.

We were happy to see the dogwood trees in bloom.

There were lots of moss covered maple trees along the way.
The rhododendrons were beginning to bloom.

There were many calypso orchids along the trail.
