Canyon Rim Trail Red Canyon Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area

This morning we drove to the end of the road at the Red Canyon area of Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area in Utah (the south end of the Gorge), to hike part way down the Canyon Rim Trail. Overall we hiked about 4 miles.
When we arrived there was a herd of bighorn sheep across the parking area (zoom).

Before hiking the Rim Trail, we went to the viewpoints at Red Canyon Overlook: the view to the west, with distant snowy peaks,

views to the north across the canyon from the overlook,

and view to the east from the overlook.
Some canyon views looking eastward from various points along the Rim Trail.

We saw a couple more bighorn sheep further down the trail (zoom).
A couple of views on our hike back.
