We drove out to the Iron Creek Trailhead in the eastern Teanaways to hike up to Iron Bear, about 6.3 miles round trip with 1,900 ft of gain. The wildflowers were wonderful and we saw about 20 other hikers on the trail. The balsamroot was in full bloom along the trail.
As we continued up the switchbacks we saw a very colorful hillside with our trail down below.
Views form a short spur trail looking east towards Joker Peak.
Wide angle view from the opposite side of the trail from Iron Bear looking from Jester Peak to a bit south.
Some views from the top of Iron Bear
In the far distance to the southwest, we saw the top of Mt Rainier peeking over the clouds (zoom).
Another view from Iron Bear with some of the Teanaway Peaks, Mt Stuart was covered by clouds today.
We were happy to find steered in bloom at the top of Iron Bear.
And on the hike back down, we saw some of the bitterroot had bloomed, so pretty!
There were some puff balls at the parking area by the trailhead.
