Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge

We stopped at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge north of Vancouver Washington this morning and walked the Oak to Wetlands Trail and the Carty Lake Trail for a total of 4 miles.
The trail passed a plankhouse,
and went under and past many white oak trees.
On our way to the Carty Lake Trail, we passed duck lake, where we watched a great blue heron fly off,
and saw several ducks swimming on the lake.
We walked past some more oak trees and open fields.
The trail crossed a bridge over Gee Creek.

Overlooking Carty Lake,
here we saw many ducks and an egret. We also saw a bald eagle fly overhead.
At the south end of the Carty Lake trail, there is a short spur trail to peek out at the Lake River.
