Mendocino Headlands

After our morning hike, we decided to stop in Mendocino and meander along part of the Headlands. We wandered for about 1.5 miles. The water among the headlands was a gorgeous shade of blue for such a gloomy gray day. View at the parking area.

The area to the north of the parking area had several large rock arches.

It was difficult to tell what are official trail and what are boot tracks.  We followed these paths out to the arch.

The arch is wide enough to walk over.
From the other side of the arch, we could see another smaller rock arch to the right behind the large rock arch. The water was swirling around this rocky point.
Water pouring over these large rocks off of the headlands.
There are many caves underneath these headlands.

We also saw some fall colors along the headlands.

This is a gorgeous place to wander!
