Cave Lake Overlook Loop

We drove to Cave Lake State Park, south of Ely Nevada this afternoon and hiked the Cave Lake Overlook Loop Trail, 3.8 miles with 930 ft of gain.

From the parking area, we could see an arch up on the left end of the rocky cliffs.

Looking towards to hill that the loop trail goes up and around, some of the aspen trees are turning yellow.

We saw some fleabane in bloom.

We opted to do the loop clockwise, and started hiking through the shade of these lovely trees.

As we hiked up along the trail, we got a better look at the arch up on the cliffs.

The trail goes through a pine forest. This tree had lots of holes, I wonder what animals live here?
Near the top of the loop, we were at 8,225 ft. Here overlooking Square Top.
Down below we could see Cave Lake, and in the distance Camel Peak.
Another view of Square Top as we hiked down.
More views of Cave Lake as the trail continues down to the trailhead.
