Baker Lake in Great Basin National Park

We drove to the end of the Baker Creek Road in Great Basin National Park to hike up to Baker Lake, 12 miles round trip with 2,600 ft of gain.

The trail starts by going up some switchbacks on an exposed slope, Mt Baker is seen in the distance.

The trail then enters into the forest, where I saw some cactus.

The trail was nicely graded, most of the ascent was gradual, with 3 areas of switchback. We hiked by golden aspens.

The trail follows Baker Creek upstream.

We enjoyed the beginning of fall colors along the way.

Interesting trunks on these aspen trees.

Pyramid Peak in the distance.

Down below the trail, we saw mule deer in a meadow.

We continued to enjoy the fall colors as we continued to hike up the trail.

Another section where the trail is alongside Baker Creek.
As we got closer to Baker Lake, the forest consisted of mainly pine trees and no underbrush.
Up in the cirque at Baker Peak. Small area of water that has become separated from Baker Lake due to evaporation.

We found a great boulder to sit on, enjoy the views and take a lunch break.

This was a very enjoyable hike.
