Bucktank Draw and Birthday Arch

The trailhead to this hike is on Hwy 89 in southern Utah, near the Arizona Border.  The hike goes up Bucktank Draw for 2 miles, then about 1/2 - 3/4 mile scramble up to the arch. We hiked about 5 miles with 500 ft elev gain.
There is a gate in the barbed wire fence to get into Bucktank Draw, you then hike south, up the draw.

The beginning of the draw is wide and flat.

There are lots of interesting rock formations along the way.

A short ways up the draw, there is barbed wire across the draw, you can crawl under, or exit the draw, go over the rocks and drop back down.

The draw becomes a box canyon.
There is some easy scrambling up the draw.

In some spots, the canyon narrows

There is a variety of terrain along the wash.
The arch is up along the high canyon wall, west of the draw.

Once you spot the arch, you go cross country to reach it.

Pano from part way up the the arch, looking back towards the draw area.

 Birthday Arch

There are some interesting hoodoos near the arch area.
We returned to the trailhead back through the wash.

Some of the wildflowers and blossoms we saw today:
