Raft and Ruins on the San Juan River

We went on an all day 26 mile raft trip down the San Juan River from Bluff to Mexican Hat. This raft trip included short hikes to the Butler Wash Panel and the River House (both located in Bears Ears National Monument).
We started down river at the Sand Point boat launch.
A beautiful stretch of the river, traveling through gorgeous sand stone cliffs.
Our first stop was taking a short hike up to the Butler Wash Panel. There were lots of petroglyphs on this panel:

This lovely lizard stopped long enough for me to get a photo.

Our second stop was another short hike up to view the River House (also known as snake house)
The ruins are located up in the alcove of those cliffs
Closer look at the ruins

petroglyphs, including a large snake, up on the walls

After our lunch break, we continued down river
We saw lots of birds,
enjoyed how the cliffs along the river changed
