Twin Falls

We drove to Ollie State Park off of I-90 exit 34 this morning to hike up to Twin Falls (2.6 mile round trip hike), we decided to keep going beyond the falls to the Palouse to Cascade Trail and hike a mile along that trail for an overall hike of 6 miles round trip, with any overall gain of 900-1,000 ft. The rain stopped soon after we started this morning. We didn't see any other hikers until we were back to the bridge above the falls, then the trail had 20-30 hikers that we passed going out.

There were lots of lovely moss covered trees along the side of the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River.

The trail goes up and over a small ridge where we could see Twin Falls further upriver.
After going down the small ridge and before heading up to the fall view area, we followed a side path down to the edge of the river. Instead of climbing over wet boulders, we went under this downed tree.

Lovely cascade a short distance below the falls

From the edge of the river, we could see Twin Falls through the trees.

We took the steps down on a side trail to the view area to see Twin Falls.

We then continued up the trail. From a bridge over the river looking down to where the river turns into the falls (behind the boulder on the right)

The trail is very nice and soft, this was the one root covered  area along the trail.
Another waterfall further upstream

The trail continues for another 0.7 or so miles through the forest before joining the PTC. The trail is close to I-90 and we could hear the traffic.

There wasn't anything exciting about this stretch of the PCT we were on this morning, but it felt could to continue to hike and stretch our legs.

Another view of moss covered trees as we returned to the Twin Falls Trail.
More lovely trees and river views as we made our way back to the trailhead.
