We drove out to Roslyn to hike up to the ridge in the Roslyn Urban Forest. There are many interconnecting trails. We were planning on doing a loop, but hiked up without snowshoes, did some post holing, and opted to return the way we went up. Overall 4.4 miles with 1,300 ft of gain. We did not see anyone on our hike today.
We hiked on fresh snow from last night. Near the beginning of our route, we saw this one building and wondered if it was part of the old mining done near here.
For most of the trail the post holing was not very deep, in several areas, the post holing was more than halfway up my calves. We got a good work out.
View of the Teanaway Peaks, Mount Stuart and some of the Enchantment Peaks from a clear spot up on the ridge.
Another nearby place on the ridge with a view. We walked along the trail on the ridge for a short distance, until it started to go downhill, but did not find another view area.
Walking back down in our own track. Closer to the bottom, the snow was melting and mushy, and some areas we bare wet ground. We enjoyed this snowy forest in an area with no risks of avalanche on a day that had high avalanche warnings for most of the Cascades.
