Wenatchee Crest Trail Snowshoe

Looking for sun and a trail free from avalanche danger, we headed east and snowshoed along the Wenatchee Crest Trail at Blewett Pass. The trailhead is on the west side of the pass and is well marked. We hiked for about 5.5 miles with 700 ft of elevation gain as we went up the nearby ridge.

The snow covered road is easy to follow. We broke trail the whole way today and didn't see any other hikers.
There are 2 times the road forks, we took the left fork each time.

There are some open areas along the road and we could see Mt Stuart to the west.
We snowshoed about 2.5 miles down the road, had a lunch break. Then decided to go up the ridge on the east side of the road on our way back.

There was lots of fresh snow on the ridge. Most of it was mid calf deep.

Occasionally, we went through thigh deep snow drifts.
We reached the top of the ridge and made sure to stay away from the cornice on the edge.

Pano from the top of the ridge looking north and east:

We had fun coming down in the deep powder.

It was nice to return to the trail we had broken earlier and we had some gentle snowfall for the last mile of our hike.
