Baldy Mountain in Yakima Canyon

We drove out to Yakima Canyon to hike up Baldy Mountain. This is a 4 mile roundtrip hike from the gate at the trailhead with 2,000 ft of elevation gain. View of Baldy Mountain from the parking area at nearby Big Pines Campground.
We went up the steep trail, the beginning section gains over 800 ft in about 0.7 mile.
We saw quite a bit of balsaamroot in bloom here. We also saw 4 deer up on the ridge, but they hurried past before I could take a photo.
Part way up the trail, we had some nice views of the Yakima River in Yakima Canyon, view to the south

a bit further up the trail, here we could see Cascade Peaks from the Snoqualmie Pass area to Mount Stuart and the enchantment peaks
As we got closer to the top of Baldy Mountain, we had great views to the west, in the distance we could see Mt Hood, Mt Adams and Mt Rainier.

On our hike down, when we reached the loop, we opted for the gentler trail down, we also saw a helicopter flying above us.
We saw balsaamroot and lupine along this section of the trail
This was my first time seeing daggerpods in bloom
some of the other wildflowers we saw along the trail today
