Bailey Cove Loop Trail

 We stopped at Shasta Lake on our way north on I-5 this morning to hike the 3 mile Bailey Cove Trail. This trail meanders around a peninsula in Bailey Cove through an oak forest with an overall elevation gain of 200'.  We were careful to avoid the plentiful poison oak.

 We watched raptors soaring overhead.
 Sun rising above the nearby mountains
 Lots of bush poppies in bloom
 We enjoyed this hike, so close to I-5, once the trail went around the back side of the peninsula, we no longer heard the traffic noise.

 Irises lined a portion of the trail.

 Beautiful green color in the lake on the other side of the peninsula.
