Mount Townsend

Drove out to the eastern Olympic Peninsula to hike up to Mount Townsend from the Upper Mount Townsend Trailhead. 8.2 miles round trip with 2,900 ft of elevation gain.
Had reports that most of the snow had melted. So there was still water in the creeks from the snow melt. The rhododendrons are not yet in bloom and with wildflowers looked like they were just starting to bloom.

A couple of miles up the trail we could see a small waterfall to the south.

After a couple of miles, the trail opens up on the steep slopes and we began to get views in the distance of Glacier Peak to the east,
and Mt Rainier to the southeast.

As we continued to climb, we could now see Mt Baker and Mt Shuksan to the northeast. Eventually, we would also see Mt Adams and Mt St Helens to the southeast.
One of the snow patches that remain on the trail. They were all easy to cross without traction.

From the top of Mount Townsend, Pano to the west of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fucca:
Pano to the east, besides the Cascade Mountians, we saw the San Juan Islands, Hood Canal and Puget Sound. Beautiful day!

We did see one field of glacier lilies on this hike along with a few other wildflowers in bloom:
