Ozette Triangle

We saw a couple of herds of elk as we were driving to Lake Ozette. In this herd we saw 3 pairs of elk butting heads.
The Ozette Triangle is 9.1 miles with 350 feet of elevation loss/gain.
There is a short walk to the trailhead it crosses this lovely mossy bridge over the Ozette River.
View of Lake Ozette from the bridge.
At the trailhead, to the left: Sand Point, to the right: Cape Alava. We took the path on the right to Cape Alava.
This is a 3.1 mile walk, mostly through the forest.
Part of the trail is on cedar boardwalks.
View as the trail nears the beach.
Ozette Island off of Cape Alava. The tide was still going out as we reached Cape Alava.
We didn't spend much time here, but I did see some large anemones.
These tide pools look like a fun place to explore, maybe on another trip here.
From Cape Alava it is a 3 mile walk along the beach to Sand Point.
About 1 mile down the beach are the Wedding Rocks. We arrived here at low tide and were able to walk around this small point and explore.

Interesting erosion on the rocks here.

There are petroglyphs on some of the rocks here.

There were some large tide pools here also.
There were quite a few eagles flying overhead today. We saw 4 bald eagles sitting on this tree.

I was able to get a picture of one of them after the others had flown off.
There are several sea stacks along the shore, this one has a good sized hole in it.
We only saw few other hikers today along with one deer.
More views of tide pools and sea stacks as we hiked down the beach.

Sand Point to the south

Pano of this section of the beach

From Sand Point it is a 3 mile walk through the forest back to the trailhead.
