Mt Ellinor Spring HIke

Nice view of Mt Ellinor and other southern Olympic Mountains on our drive out to the Mt Ellinor trailhead near Hoodsport off Hwy 101.
We were able to park at the lower trailhead and take the winter trail up to the top, a 6 mile round trip with 3,300 ft elevation gain.

The lower trail is a nice trail in the woods.
We had a few views of Mt Ellinor and Mt Washington through the trees.

We encountered icy snow on the lower trail and used our micro spikes.

Quite a bit of snow on the winter route. It was both soft on top and nicely packed down, so we did not need to use snowshoes.
Looking towards the large chute heading up to the saddle between Mt Ellinor and Mt Washington. Glad I brought my ice ax.

On the saddle,

Pano from the summit looking east to south, we saw Mt Baker, Mt Washington, Mt Rainier and Mt Adams today, along with Puget Sound, Hood Canal and Lake Cushman
