Marymere Falls

Our Second waterfall along Hwy 101, was to Marymere Falls. This is a 1.7 mile round trip hike, starting at the Storm King area of Olympic National Park along the south shore of Lake Crescent. The trailhead is near the east end and goes through a tunnel under Hwy 101.
The first part of the trail is nice and flat, through a beautiful forest.

The trail crosses Barnes Creek on a nice bridge.
Another bridge crosses Falls Creek below Marymere Falls.

A short steep trail takes you to the upper viewpoint of Marymere Falls (119 ft falls). The lower section of the loop trail is currently closed due to dangerous trail conditions.
Lots of moss growing on the trees.
a colorful bird sitting at the bottom of a large tree.
After returning through the tunnel, we walked along the shore of Lake Crescent to admire the views,

There were ducks along the shore,

and a bufflehead swimming in the lake.
