Our second hike this morning in Petrified Forest National Park was the Off the Beaten Track Trail in Jasper Forest. We picked up a suggested route guide from the rangers, a hiked about 2.75 miles round trip. We did not see any other hikers on this route today.
The suggested route was easy to follow.
The purplish colored badlands here along with the plentiful petrified wood was delightful to see.
Gorgeous petrified stump
some wonderful rock formations
Split Rock
The petrified wood we saw here varied from quite large,
to medium,
to small and covering the ground like a gravel road in places.
