Wildflower loop at Paradise

We drove up to Paradise at Mt Rainier National Park to do a modified Skyline Loop Trail and enjoy the wildflowers. Overall 5 miles with 1,600 ft of gain. We hiked up Deadhorse CreekTrail to Glacier Vista, continued on the Skyline Trail over the Hight route and came down on the Golden Gate Trail to rejoin the Skyline Trail. View from the beginning of the Deadhorse Creek Trail.

I love the lush meadows along the beginning of the Deadhorse Creek Trail!

peek a boo view of Mt Rainier

Love the abundance of bright red paintbrush!
One of our slowest hikes, because we were continually stopping to soak in the views and take photos.

Looking back along the trail towards the Tatoosh Range.

Better views of Mt Rainier as we continue up the Deadhorse Creek Trail.

We saw several marmots along this part of the trail.

View from Panorama Point, Mt Hood was very faint through the haze to the south.

From Panorama Point we continued along the high route, love this wide angle view of Mt Rainier.

lots of monkey flowers growing along the streams

Mt Rainier starting to reemerge into view
Lots of heather along the trail,

paintbrush growing amid the rocks lining the trail,
and lupine, paintbrush and more in the meadow.

As we headed down, we saw some beargrass still in bloom across the meadow.

There were many wildflowers in bloom as we hiked down the Golden Gate Trail.

View from Edith Creek back along the Skyline Loop Trail
We saw many butterflies today, I was able to get a photo of one on an aster.
