We drove up to South Lake in Inyo National Forest to hike up to Treasure Lakes from the Bishop Pass Trailhead. We went to the lower 2 Treasure Lakes, as the route to the upper lakes was very steep and covered in snow. 6.25 miles with 1,300 ft of overall gain. We saw 2 backpackers hiking out on our way up the trail and had the lakes to ourselves for over an hour. We met 6 hikers on our way down the trail. A very quiet day.
View from next to the trailhead. Off to a beautiful start!
We started on the Bishop Pass Trail for the first 0.8 miles, going along South Lake. I'm loving the Eastern Sierras!
Part way up the trail, we entered the John Muir Wilderness.
