Manastash Ridge

We were hoping to hike at Whiskey Dick this morning but the temperature was 24F with strong wind. We opted to go to Manastash Ridge in Ellensburg and hike up the Westberg Trail and down the Boy Scout Trail (4.3 miles with 1,600 ft of gain). The temperature at the trailhead was 29F with less wind and the ridge gave us some protection from the wind. There was more snow on the trail from when I hiked here one month ago and it snowed the entire time we were hiking this morning.

We enjoyed our hike in the fresh snow and only saw a few other hikers.

A friend told me she saw some wildflowers along this route a week ago. We did see some currant blossoms, but with the wind blowing, I was unable to get a photo.

View from the top of the Westberg Trail, we could see the valley below, but no views of the Stuart Range today.

Heading back down towards the top of the Boy Scout Trail.

It was nice to be in the woods and sheltered from the wind.

We saw some grass widows popping out of the snow near the bottom of the Boy Scout Trail along with some balsamroot beginning to blossom.
