Skyline Divide Trail in the Mt Baker Wilderness

We drove up the very rough FR 37 to the Trailhead for the Skyline Divide Trail. This is a trail that extends for many miles connecting with the trail that leads to Hadlee Peak. We hiked out along Skyline Divide until we reached 6,300 ft of altitude. A 7.5 mile round trip hike with an overall gain of 2,250 ft. The first two miles of the trail are in the woods gaining 1,500 ft before reaching the Mt Baker Wilderness and the Skyline Divide.
About 2/3 of the way up through the woods, we started to see some wildflowers in bloom.
We soon found the trail going through field after field of wildflowers.
The wildflowers were so thick and abundant!
So amazing!
Here we had a brief glimpse of Mt Baker between the trees.
Out of the woods and on the Skyline Divide, a lovely view of Mt Baker to the south.
Lots of wildflowers in bloom along the ridge, here looking northeast.
We would pass many fields of wildflowers along the Skyline Divide.
The Skyline Divide Trail goes up and down several knolls.
view to the east of Mt Shuksan
The trail winds around some of the knolls, giving wonderful vistas.
I can see why this is a very popular trail.
Wide angle view along the trail from Mt Shuksan to Mt Baker
More fields of wildflowers as we continue along the trail.
View of Mt Baker and the last knoll we went up today.
There were a couple of scramble spots on this knoll where I needed to use my hands.
Looking over towards Mt Shuksan.
Looking back north along the Skyline Divide Trail.
Love the views of Mt Baker today.
Last bit of up for us.
Mt Baker and wildflowers

We went a bit further and found ourselves in the trees, so we came back here to take a break and enjoy a snack.

We loved walking back through the wildflowers and views.

We stopped for a lunch break before descending back down through the woods to the trailhead,
watching the clouds roll in.
