Ptarmigan Ridge to the Portals

We drove up to Artist Point to hike on the Ptarmigan Ridge Trail to the Portals on Mt Baker (12 miles round trip with 2,250 ft of overall gain). We stopped at a pond before Picture Lake, and captured Mt Shuksan with reflection, before the clouds came in.
By the time we reached Artist Point most of the area was covered in clouds. We only saw 4 other hikes on our way out to the Portals and about 50+ hikers on the way back.
The wildflowers were gorgeous!
pearly everlasting
The only patch of orange paintbrush we saw today was near the start of the trail.
Mt Shuksan mainly covered in clouds
Brief glimpse of Mt Baker as the clouds move around.
Field of wildflowers below Table Mountain
pink monkeyflowers along with many other wildflowers
heather
We crossed several snow fields, the snow was soft enough that we did not use our micro spikes.

Lovely colors of wildflowers along the hillsides
Getting closer to the Portals, our destination is East Portal on the left
View of Mt Baker from East Portal, where we had our lunch break. Great view of the glaciers.
By the time we had gone less than two miles down the trail, Mt Baker was almost completely covered in clouds.
Tarns in the distance below the trail.
Clouds are starting to lift off of Mt Shuksan as we head back towards Artist Point.
Clearer view of Table Mtn on the way back.
We are so happy to see Mt Shuksan emerge from the clouds!
