Lake Ingalls

We had the opportunity to go to the Teanaways to hike up to Lake Ingalls while the larches are golden. We decided to not let the cloudy, drizzly forecast keep us away. This is a 9 mile round trip hike with 2,500 ft of elevation gain. Besides the larches we saw pika, grouse and some wildflowers still in bloom.
The trail starts by a creek in the forest and heads up hill.

The fall colors on the trail up to Ingalls Pass were spectacular!

On the hike up, we had views of nearby Esmeralda Peaks.

Before reaching Ingalls Pass, we encountered a little snow. Ingalls Pass is about 3 miles from the trailhead, here we began to see the larches!

The basin, between Ingalls Pass and Lake Ingalls is filled with larches. So beautiful even in the clouds.
We only had a few glimpses of Mount Stuart among all the clouds.
We took our time in the basin enjoying the larches in the fog.

Wide angle shot of Lake Ingalls:

Continuing to enjoy the larches on our way back to Ingalls Pass.

We saw a pika in the rocks.
We could see where the freeze line was by the snow covered larches up high.

The clouds got thicker in the afternoon.

 So beautiful!

View of Esmeralda Peaks on the hike back down.

Some of the flora and wildflowers we saw on the trail.

We were rewarded with a rainbow on our drive home.
