Mount Lady MacDonald Hike

Looking at Mount Lady MacDonald from Canmore. We hiked up to the abandoned tea house at 7,560 ft on Mount Lady MacDonald today. This was a 5.4 mile round trip with 2,960 ft elevation gain.

The parking is along the Cougar Creek reclamation area on the east side of Canmore. We had great views of the Three Sisters Mountain from the parking area. We hiked 0.6 miles up the gavel area on the left side of Cougar Creek.
We saw two coyotes cross the gravel area in front of us. These pictures are blurry:

The trail starts to climb up through the woods.

After about 2 miles and 1,900 ft of elevation gain, the trail opens up with great views across the Bow Valley and enters a rocky area.

There is a scree crossing where we had to watch for cairns and orange tape to find our way up.
In 0.35 miles the trail climbs 550 ft. We found some large rocks to take a break and enjoy the views.
A short ways later, the trail climbs up a ridge line with gorgeous views.

We continued up some rocky switchbacks to a large flat area where a wooden platform is the abandoned tea house. Beyond is the false summit of Mount Lady MacDonald.

Here we are with the Three Sisters Mountain behind us to the left. Below is Canmore in the Bow Valley.

Panorama from the wooden platform looking east: Mount Lady MacDonald to the Three Sisters Mountain.
Panorama from the platform looking west towards Canmore and the Rockies between Canmore and Banff.

On the hike back down the trail, we had fabulous views of the Three Sisters Mountain and other Rocky Mountains.

Continuing down the trail.

Some of the wildflowers and plants we saw along the trail today:
