Hidden Lake Overlook Hike Glacier National Park

Because of the wildfire on the east side of the Going To The Sun Road and the limited open driving time from the east side, we decided to take advantage of the free shuttle up to Logan Pass from St Mary's.

The Hidden Lake Trail is located behind the Visitor Center and to the overlook of Hidden Lake is a short, but beautiful 3 mile round trip hike with 500 ft of elevation gain.

The first portion of the hike is raised boardwalk. The Garden Wall is seen in the background of this photo.

Panorama from the trail looking east toward the Garden Wall:
Panorama from the trail looking north (Clements Mountain on the left):

We passed fields and fields of wildflowers

 All the views were breathtaking

We passed a small waterfall along the side of Clements Mountain

and saw a marmot in the rocks and flowers

Panorama looking east as we neared the Continental Divide:

along the Continental Divide we saw a family of mountain goats

Hidden Lake as seen from the overlook, Bearhat Mountain on the right.

Panorama looking west by the Hidden Lake Overlook:

The family of mountain goats walked right past the overlook and one stopped to rest:

The Columbia Ground Squirrels here were very fat and aggressive.

A few of the many wildflowers we saw on the trail:
