Mt Fremont Lookout and First Burroughs Summer Hike at Mt Rainier

We headed up to Sunrise at Mt Rainier National Park today to hike out to the Mount Fremont Lookout  via the Sourdough Ridge Trail, then up to First Burroughs and back to Sunrise via the Burroughs Loop Trail. Our hike today was 7.3 miles with about 1,500+ feet of elevation gain (lots of ups and downs).
It was cold this morning, 45*F and a brisk wind adding a considerable wind chill. We also found ourselves in the clouds with Mt Rainier playing peek-a-boo with us. A beautiful day!

We saw lots of wildflowers along the trail and
fields of wildflowers near the trail
 lots of colors to enjoy

We only saw a few butterflies, I don't think they liked the cold wind today.

Marmots like to bask in the warm sun, perhaps that is why we only saw one marmot hurrying up hill very fast.

We did see lots of squirrels and chipmunks happily posing for us

The hike up to the Mount Fremont lookout was in the clouds

We spent about 40 minutes by ourselves at the lookout, watching the clouds move across the mountains.

We then returned along the Mt Fremont Trail back toward Mt Rainier and the Burroughs Mountains

As we hiked down the other side of First Burroughs along the Burroughs Loop Trail, we saw a herd of goats grazing on the lower flank of Second Burroughs
There were lots of gorgeous views of Mt Rainier as we continued to hike down the trail.
