McKinney Falls State Park

We drove to McKinney Falls State Park, south of Austin Texas to do a short hike to the two waterfalls. Overall we hiked 1.6 miles and saw lots of wildflowers besides the two waterfalls.

We parked at the Lower Falls Trailhead, but headed towards the Upper falls first. We were so happy to see so many wildflowers in bloom, including the bluebonnets!

A natural rock shelter, that had been used in prehistoric times, although all the artifacts have been washed away by flooding.

We saw lots of painted turtles below the Upper falls:

Near the Upper Falls is a large meadow filled with wildflowers

There were many of these butterflies in the meadow, the wings never stopped flapping.
