Gallagher Head Lake via De Roux Creek

Today we drove to the De Roux Trailhead in the Teanaways to hike up to Gallagher Head Lake, an 8 mile round trip hike with 1,900 ft of elevation gain. This was a great wildflower hike and we only saw about 10 other people on the trail today. After 0.2 miles the trail crosses the North Fork of the Teanaway River on a foot bridge.

There were many wildflowers in bloom in the forest, including these queen cup flowers.
Further up the trail we crossed De Roux Creek.
A small waterfall along De Roux Creek a short ways before the creek crossing.

The creek was shallow and we were able to cross on rocks.

We also enjoyed seeing the wildflowers blooming in the open meadows.

View of Gallagher Head Peak along the trail.
An orange colored peak along the trail.

Gallagher Head Lake, we took a lunch break here and had the lake to ourselves for the majority of the time we were here.

Esmeralda Peak to the east of the lake.
