Kendall Knob

We drove up to the Gold Creek SnoPark to snowshoe up to Kendall Knob, this was 8 miles round trip with 1.800 ft of gain.  The closed road over Coal Creek has eroded even more from last winter. There is only room for one person to walk across at a time.

There was quite a bit of fresh snow. The first 3 miles or so was packed down well enough that we did not use our snowshoes. The route follows the old forest road through the forest.

There are some open spaces with views along the way. Looking south towards Summit Central Ski area.

I love seeing fresh snow covering the forest.

Kendall Peaks, several people had snowshoed towards Kendall Peaks Lakes, but I was sinking enough in the snow that I felt more comfortable with snowshoes on.

Instead of going to the snow covered lakes, we continued along the closed road towards Kendall Knob. We broke trail for about 0.25 miles.

We had a nice long lunch break at the Knob all to ourselves. View looking east towards Gold Creek Pond, Keechelus Lake and Mt Rainier.

Heading back down the trail
Looking up the side of the mountain , we saw fresh signs of a couple of small avalanches.
