Hurricane Hill Snowshoe

We drove out to Hurricane Ridge to hike/snowshoe out towards Hurricane Hill today.  The forecast was for mostly cloudy with some snow and windy. We decided to see how far we were comfortable to to in the conditions. Overall we hiked 4 miles round trip with 350' of gain. It was windiest and coldest at the parking area at Hurricane Ridge. We were the first people heading out along the closed Hurricane Hill Road had some blue sky to start.

We did see that a coyote had been out before us.

Love the frost covered bark and lichen.

We didn't have any mountain views this morning, but enjoyed this winter wonderland.

We were able to stay along the summer route.

The wind carved some interesting patterns in the snow drifts.

Hurricane Hill was hidden in the clouds. We went further along this route until the steep side slopes, the wind and lack of views encouraged us to turn around.

Views down to the Elwah Valley

We were about 500 ft above the snow line.

The sun tried to break through the clouds even while it was snowing.

Lovely snow covered trees!
