Diamond Lake via Polallie Ridge

We drove out to the Salmon La Sac Campground to hike up to Diamond Lake via Polallie Ridge, this is an 8.4 mile round trip hike with an overall elevation gain of 3,000 ft.
The first 0.1 mile of the trail is along the Cooper River.
The Polallie Ridge trail goes off to the right and up the ridge. In another 0.1 mile, stay to the left as the next right turn leads to Waptus Lake.

There was a little fall color along the beginning of the ridge.
We were hiking in the clouds for the entire hike.
We ran into patchy snow about 4,500 feet and saw a variety of animal prints.
About 3 miles from the trailhead, we entered the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.

We encountered consistent snow at 4,700 ft. There were some icy patches so we wore our micro spikes.
We crossed a few partially frozen creeks.

 Heading down to Diamond Lake
 Pano at Diamond Lake.
The clouds continued as we hiked back down to the trailhead. I loved the lichen hanging from the tree branches.
