Artist Point Snowshoe

We drove up to where the road is closed on Mt Baker Hwy for the winter at the ski resort to snowshoe up to Artist Point and Huntoon Point. This is about 4 miles round trip with 1,000 ft of gain.
The views are outstanding the entire route. There were lots of tracks to follow as the weather has been beautiful for the last couple of days.

We wore snowshoes, although if you stayed on the main packed down tracks you could have done this in boots.

An early view of Mt Shuksan

Some icicles

old pinwheels, a reminder that this trail goes through an avalanche chute

Up at Artist Point, lovely views of Mt Baker

The snow and wind create many shapes and formations
