The trail starts in the Paradise area of the park. 5.5 miles with 1,700 ft of gain.
Even John Muir thought it gorgeous here!
We choose to take the Deadhorse Creek Trail up towards Panorama Point. It is a less traveled option.
Looking back down the Deadhorse Trail, wildflower meadows and the Tatoosh Range in the background.
Overlooking the Nisqually Glacier on Mt Rainier
Many ground squirrels were out today
also many marmots
heather in bloom near Panorama Point
marmot eating the wildflowers
young marmots scampering on a rocky ridge
View from Panorama Point, the distant volcanoes were obscured from the haze
Mt Rainier from the High section of the High Skyline Loop trail
another marmot
lots of green and wildflowers near the streams from snow melt
young marmots playing
the marmots were so busy eating, they weren't concerned about hikers on the trail
lots of pasqueflowers going to seed
marsh-marigolds
There were only a couple of small snowfields on the trail that were easy to cross
lots of wildflower meadows
View of Mt Rainier as we headed down Mazama Ridge
so many wildflowers along the Mazama Ridge portion of the trail
