Hurricane Hill and Sunrise Point
Drove up to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park to hike up to Hurricane Hill. The Hurricane Hill Road is currently closed, so I hiked up along the closed road and up the trail (about 6 miles round trip)ln the way back I decided to hike the Meadow Trail over to Sunrise Point and then back to my car making the trip about 7 miles with 1,200 ft of overall gain. There are a few snow patches, but very little snow overall. Some wildflowers are in bloom. Saw lots of deer and chimpmunks, several marmots and from Sunrise Point a black bear with 2 cubs. Fabulous day! Views from the parking area of Olympic Peaks to the south including a zoom of Mt Olympus
One of the deer in the meadow on the other side of the parking area
Along the road walk and trail there were views of Mt Angeles to the east, Olympic Peaks to the west and Hurricane Hill to the north
Along the way there were some wildflowers, butterflies and chipmunks
Views seen along the last steep section up to Hurricane Hill, including deer and a couple of the marmots in the meadows
Views from the top of Hurricane Hill looking east towards Mt Angeles, north to northwest across the mountains to the Strait of Juan de Fuca, then south to snow capped Olympic Peaks
View of Hurricane Hill from a pullout near the beginning of the Hurricane Hill Road, near here I found a trail connectint to the Hurricane Ridge Meadows Trail
The was quite a bit of snow on the trail to and through the north end of the meadow, here view of Mt Angeles, deer on the snow and going up towards Sunrise Point
zoom of a bear with two cubs in the meadow below the west side of Sunrise Point
Views from Sunrise Point west to Hurricane Hill, northeast towards Mt Angeles and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, east to Mt Angeles and Klahhane Ridge
Views of Olympic Peaks to the south, southwest as I hiked down from Sunrise Point to the parking area
