Sage Hills

This afternoon we drove out to Wenatchee to hike Sage Hills. We started at the Day Drive Trailhead and hiked 4.7 miles with 700 ft of overall gain.

At the beginning the balsamroot seemed sparse, but there was lots of lupine in bloom.

Here the yellow parsley brightened the hills amongst the purple of the lupine and the Larkspur.

We continued past the rock outcroppings to a loop section of the trails.
There many wildflowers covering the hills.

As the trail wound around the hills we began to see more and more balsamroot and lupine covering the slopes.

So enchanting to turn a corner and see this carpet of flowers.

The most balsamroot were seen about 1.5 miles into our hike.

What a wonderful day to meander and enjoy this short period of balsamroot blooms.

Looking back down the trail

Blooms as far as the eye could see looking up the hills.
As we continued along the loop, the balsamroot thinned out, but there were other wildflowers in bloom to enjoy, along with views towards the Wenatchee River.
