Nisqually Wildlife Refuge

Drove down to the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge off of I-5, north of Lacey to walk around the refuge. There were lots of birds and birders enjoying this sunny morning.  There were some yellow maples along the path near the pond.

View to the north heading out to the boardwalk.

To the northwest, distant views of the Olympic Mountains, a great blue heron sitting on a log.

Lots of shorebirds

Fall colors can be seen along the south shore line of the Nisqually Delta.

Beautiful sunny day out on the boardwalk.
Wonderful morning enjoying the views.
The last 700 ft of the boardwalk are closed from mid October to the end of January each year.
To the northwest, a distant and hazy Mt Rainier can be seen.
