Lake Ingalls

Drove out to the Teanaways to hike up to Lake Ingalls from the Esmeralda Basin Trailhead. 9 miles round trip with 2,500 ft of gain. View of the Esmeralda Peaks as we hiked up the trail towards Ingalls Pass.
Grouse seen along the way.
As the trail neared Ingalss Pass, we could see Mt Adams and Mt Rainier to the southwest beyond Esmeralda Peaks. There was some nice fall color along part of the trail.

View of Mount Stuart and golden larches in Headlight Basin
We took the high boulder route toward Lake Ingalls, below Ingalls Peak, we could see two mountain goats.

We took our time, enjoying the stroll through the larches and the views of Mount Stuart.

Wide angle view of Lake Ingalls, we were amazed that there were only 3 other hikers at the lake when we arrived.

We hiked among the boulders to find a good spot for our lunch break.
The water was a lovely shade of blue.

On our way back to Ingalls Pass, we hike the lower trail across Headlight Basin. The huckleberry bushes were bright red.

Another view of Mount Stuart across a small pond.
A last look at Mount Stuart before returning down to the trailhead.
