Devil's Kitchen

Our last stop was to hike to the Devil's Kitchen, 2 miles round trip. The trailhead is shared among 4 hikes.

Lots of gorgeous rock formations along the trail.

We were able to hike and scramble in the Devil's Kitchen.

Cold Shivers Point

We also stopped at Cold Shivers Point on our drive through Colorado National Monument. Vies from the point.

We saw these yellow asters and pink phlox growing between the rocks.

Otto's Trail

Our second stop in Colorado National Monument was to do the short 1/2 mile round trip hike on Otto's Trail. This is just south of the Rim Trail. View form the end of Otto's Trail looking at the Pipe Organ and northward to the Rim Trail.

Canyon Rim Trail and Window Rock Trail

We drove to Colorado National Monument and drove in from the West Entrance. Soon after entering the park we saw several female desert bighorn sheep next to the road.

One of the bighorn sheep quickly scampered up the hillside.

For our first short hike, we started from the visitor center and combined the Canyon Rim Trail with the Window Rock Trail (1.5 miles round trip). There were some gorgeous rocks along the trail above the canyon.

Further down the trail, looking north, we could see the point of what I think is Window Rock.
