Fossil Discovery Trail

We did the Fossil Discovery Trail from the Visitor Center at Dinosaur National Monument this morning. It is about 2 miles round trip.
We found some petroglyphs along the trail.

There are some interesting rock formations along this trail, besides the fossils.

This boulder has some large fossilized fish scales on it.
There were quite a few fossils on the spur trail of the Morrison Formation:

Most exciting is the vertebrae of a dinosaur up in the cliff wall.

Some shell fossils in the stump formation area:

Lizard Trail Cub Creek Petroglyph Site

Our third stop at Dinosaur National Monument to see petroglyphs was to Site #14 the Lizard Trail along Cub Creek Road. This is a short 1/4 mile tup this rock formation to see the lizard and other petroglyphs.

Some of the petroglyphs were way up high like the small lizard up towards the left.
Other petroglyphs were more accessible.

We walked up and around to the east side of this rock formation all, and
saw this lovely view.

Fremont Mystery Cub Creek Petroglyph Site

Another Petroglyph Site at Dinosaur National Monument is site #13 along Cub Creek Road called a Fremont Mystery. There were quite a few petroglyphs here along a short trail. Part of the trail was blocked off do to the hazard of falling rocks.
