Spencer Trail

This is a short, steep hike along the Colorado River south of Page, AZ. 3 miles rt with 1,700 ft gain.  The trailhead is at Lees Ferry, and starts along the River Trail and goes through the historic Lees Ferry area.

View of the canyon wall we will hike up, hiking along the River Trail

Beautiful views of the canyon walls.

Soon, the Spencer Trail breaks off and climbs the canyon wall in a series of switchbacks
 The trail climbs and climbs

Wide angle shot part way up the Spencer Trail, showing the Colorado River makes a horseshoe bend around Echo Cliffs

Interesting iron deposits in the rocks
We saw several lizards along the trail

We enjoyed this hike with it's constant views!

As we hiked back down the trail we looked back up, to where we think we had our lunch break

Hanging Garden

Another short hike near Page, AZ. This one is north of town, just east of Glen Canyon Dam. 1 mile rt hike out to the Hanging Garden area. We also did some scrambling above the garden for some awesome views.

The Hanging Garden is the green area sheltered by the overhang.

An easy class 1 scramble, a little steep
