Snoqualmie Tunnel

Up at Hyak, we decided to walk part way through the Snoqualmie Tunnel. The trail from Hyak Sno Park to the tunnel entrance is about 0.25 miles and we walked about 1/2 way through the tunnel, maybe 1 mile, before turning around. It is cold and dark in the tunnel.

Pig Pond

We drove to Pacheco State Park, west of Santa Nella CA to hike to Pig Pond via the Spikes Peak Trail and return via the Pig Pond Trail, 2.5 miles round trip with 200 ft of overall gain. This was a beautiful trail through rolling hills dotted with oak trees and wildflowers beginning to bloom. We had the trail to ourselves this morning.

Devil's Punchbowl via the Spruce Railroad Trail

We drove to the Spruce Railroad Trailhead along the East Shore of Lake Cresent in Olympic National Park to hike part way along the trail to the Devil's Punchbowl a 2.5 mile round trip with 200 ft of gain. View of Pyramid Peak from the East Beach Picnic Area. The Spruce Railroad Trail hikes along the north shore below Pyramid Peak and continues westward.
View of Lake Cresent from the trail, lovely forest walk.
When we reached the tunnel, we took the trail to the left for the short trail to Devil's Punch Bowl, the across the bridge continuing along the lakeshore until the trail rejoined main Spruce Railroad Trail.
We walked through the tunnel and back to the trailhead.
